Follow up messages
Nudge a customer who went quiet, or who did not finish paying, without writing each message by hand.
What it does
A follow up is a message that is sent later, if the customer has not done what you hoped. WAGenie has three ways to do it: the Payment failed follow up, a Wait step in an automation, and the Wait and follow up step in a Flow.
In a Flow, the follow up text you write is only a note about what to check in on. The AI writes the real message, and sends it only if the customer stays quiet.

How to use it
- For a payment that failed: open Settings, Orders, Order automations. Switch on Payment failed follow up. It reminds the customer they can try again on the same link.
- In an automation: add a Wait step with an amount in minutes, hours or days, then add a message or a template after it. You can put a Condition after the wait to skip people who already did what you wanted.
- In a Flow: add a Wait and follow up node. Set how many minutes to wait, and write what the follow up should be about.
- Test it with your own number before you switch it on for customers.
Example for a business
A tutor sends a Flow with a question about which batch a parent wants. The Wait and follow up node waits 60 minutes. If the parent has not answered, the AI sends a short friendly message asking if they still want a batch. If the parent has answered, nothing is sent.
Good to know
- The wait in a Flow is at least 5 minutes and at most 1380 minutes (23 hours). A shorter wait risks WhatsApp’s rate limits. Past 24 hours WhatsApp does not allow free text.
- Free text messages need the 24 hour chat window to be open. Use a template for a longer wait.
- If a customer types STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE or QUIT, WAGenie sends one confirmation and stops all automated follow ups to that person. The AI can also spot a polite request like please do not message me again.
- Once a person has opted out, a Flow follow up to them does not run.
